About our intern program:

Our competitive intern program offers interns exposure to the business world and a meaningful work experience. Baird's summer intern program activities include an Intern Welcome Event, professional development, networking with leaders and associates, and many other informal events. Our interns have the opportunity to use a Baird Cares Day, a paid day to volunteer in the community. They are also eligible to apply for scholarships. Our informal mentor program gives interns an opportunity to network throughout Baird and learn about different areas of the firm.

Baird’s Operations Department (“Ops”) is the best kept secret in the financial services industry and plays a critical role to the success and growth or the firm.  We partner with the different business and functions within Baird with the goal of driving efficiencies and reducing risk to the firm.

Internship Location, Availability and Hours:

Located in our downtown Milwaukee office, the intern must be able to work part-time during the school semesters, 15-20 hours per week, and full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week. We are seeking a student who can start as soon as possible.

As a Trading Operations Intern, you will:

  • Support internal, external and institutional clients with trade allocation details and resolving trader issues
  • Rebill trade accounts with updated interest and principal amounts
  • Reconcile trading positions to accurately reflect current positions
  • Process trade corrections and manual trade entries
  • Gain experience with Bloomberg and Beta systems
  • Complete ad-hoc projects related to account management

What we look for:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree. All majors are encouraged to apply
  • Anticipated graduation date of May 2022
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player
  • Ability to work in a team environment and manage priorities to meet specific deadlines
  • Excellent client service, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
