About our intern program:
Our competitive intern program offers interns exposure to the business world and a meaningful work experience. Interns are treated as valuable team members while learning from experienced professionals in a collaborative, fun and dynamic environment. Baird's summer intern program activities include an Intern Welcome Event, professional development, networking with leaders and associates, and many other informal events. Our interns have the opportunity to use a Baird Cares Day, a paid day to volunteer in the community. They are also eligible to apply for scholarships. Our informal mentor program gives interns an opportunity to network throughout Baird and learn about all the areas of the firm.
Our Strategic Change Management Team:
Baird’s Operations Department (“Ops”) is the best kept secret in the financial services industry and plays a critical role to the success and growth of the firm. The Strategic Change Management team is part of the Operations Department. The mission of the Strategic Change Management team is to manage the portfolio of Operations projects and ensure our business partners (Private Wealth Management, Wealth Solutions Group, Compliance, etc.) have insight and input into the project work that Operations is working on. Our goal is to ensure Operations cultivates and collaborates throughout the project lifecycle, build associate skills and capabilities, and foster a culture that embraces continuous improvement and change. We support projects large and small and are always looking for ways to provide flexible services and learning opportunities for the teams with which we work.
Internship Location, Availability and Hours:
Located in our downtown Milwaukee office, the intern must be able to work full time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week. We are seeking a student who can start in June 2022.
As a Strategic Change (SC) Intern, you will:
Attend project meetings to gain exposure to professional problem-solving conversations and brainstorm working sessions, for potentially firm-wide, cross-departmental challenges
Assist with process documentation, meeting prep and note taking, action item follow-up, and task management
Manage and assist with reporting, project management, and creation of reports and documents
Maintain the PowerBI reporting and help create and manage BRS (Business Results Summary)
Solve problems in an innovative and creative manner
Bring new ideas to improve and support continuous improvement
Gain extensive experience using AchieveIt, Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to create final deliverables (may include Visio)
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
What we look for:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Marketing, Communications/PR, Finance, IT, or Liberal Arts & Sciences. Targeting graduation dates of May 2023 or later
Strong oral and written communication skills
Exceptional organization, time management, and attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
A highly motivated, strategic thinker who takes initiative to learn and contribute to the team
Ability to work within a team and on a self-directed basis
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Prior office experience a plus
Some financial market knowledge preferred
