Finance is looking for a new leader to partner with our high performing Finance teams to drive strategic department initiatives.  In this role you will be working in a fast-paced environment that will enable you to grow as a professional and provide you with broad visibility across the department.

The Finance Systems team develops the Finance department’s technology strategy including monitoring the status of active projects and coordinating priorities with Baird’s information technology (IT) department.  The financial systems team also monitors and supports the Oracle Peoplesoft (Peoplesoft) platform that is used across the Finance department.  The team interacts frequently with Baird’s IT experts in application development and application administration, external consultants, technology platform vendors as well as Finance department users.

The Initiatives Team advocates for the department’s improvement efforts and guides leaders, teams and clients through the highest prioritized initiatives and other challenging projects.  The goal of the initiatives team is to create ever-increasing value for the department’s associates and clients while continuously guiding improvement of department performance.

The Finance Technology and Data Analytics Manager is responsible for working collaboratively with cross-functional team members to identify and implement high-quality solutions that meet our clients’ needs, with an initial focus on data and analytics.  This position is hybrid, working both remotely and in-person out of our Milwaukee office.

As a Finance Technology and Data Analytics Manager, responsibilities include:

  • Technology Strategy: Actively lead new vendor analysis and exploration of new software applications or tools Develops proposals for new solutions and delivers continued process and technology enhancements.
  • Lead Finance’s Data and Analytics Initiatives by:
    • Developing and maintaining reporting and data integration systems, dashboards, and performance metrics that support Finance’s clients.
    • Managing and optimizing processes for data intake and validation, as well as modeling, visualization, and communication deliverables.
    • Supporting the development of analytical tools and data flows to support decision making in Finance or with our clients.
    • Acquiring and maintaining relevant data necessary to meet all current and future analytical needs.
  • Project Management: Execute project plans by creating documentation, coordinating, and facilitating meetings, tracking action items and project activities, and taking ownership of elements of the project.
  • Development: Enhance associate skills and abilities in Finance through development opportunities related to technology.
  • Special Projects: Manage projects and provide oversight for key department-wide initiatives aligned with the Finance Strategic Plan.  Define project plans, goals and performance measures; establish baselines, set targets, monitor and manage performance to achieve desired department results.  Engages with key Finance resources relative to systems & system integration efforts

    What we need from you:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business (Finance or Accounting preferred) or an Information Systems degree.
    • 5-7 years of relevant experience.
    • Ability to become Series 99 or equivalent (Series 7/Series 27) licensed within 120 days of hire.
    • Anticipate client needs and provide superior service.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit, team player attitude and collaborative/consultative mindset.
    • Experience and knowledge of data visualization and preparation tools (i.e. Power BI, Alteryx, SQL)
    • Experience and knowledge of ETL tools and processes (i.e. DataStage, SSIS)
    • Strong understanding of data, systems, and information
    • Extensive experience with MS Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Word, Outlook).
    • Demonstrated leadership experience / ability
